October 22, 1998 Meeting Minutes

Dear ACHESA members,

The meeting on Thurs. lasted about 30 min., but it was full
of important information so listen up!

Once again we went over the new attendance policy which is
now in effect (see last meetings minutes) and dues for this
year. Dues are $15 for the semester for the JMU chapter and
$40 for the year for nationals. That is a total of $55 if
you are a new member. If you are an old member you should
receive a bill for $40 in the mail. Also, for every week
that your dues are late there will be a $5 penalty charge.
sorry, but we need to send the money in ASAP.

A member from each committe announced their goals for the
year and upcoming events. They are as follows:

Fundraising:
-to sign up this year to do a convo clean up next year.
The waiting list has already begun for next year so we
should sign up ASAP. This would ensure ACHESA a few
hundred dollars for the 1999/2000 school year.

-to help marketing with the new ACHESA t-shirts

Marketing:

-to make the JMU community aware of ACHESA and what it is

-to post flyers/announcements about upcoming events and
speakers

-to design and make new ACHESA t-shirts. The committee
suggested a design which would be fun and related to JMU
rather than the block style, formal shirts. If you are
artistic or have any ideas please send Mini an email
(kanwarmx). We need to get the shirts made so we can wear
them and promote ACHESA.

Program Curriculum:

-to do a S.W.O.T. analysis of the HSA program

-to compare JMU's HSA program with competing programs at
other schools

-to contact recent alumni and determine which
courses/skills they have found to be most beneficial in the
"working world"

Community Service:

-to do at least 2 projects before the end of this semester

    -the first will be a canned food drive for
    Thanksgiving so start saving your cans.
    Points for attendence will be awarded if you
    turn in a certain number of cans (details later).

Continuing Education:

-to have a speaker within the next few weeks. If you have
anyone that you know of or are interested in hearing please
tell Dr. Thompson, one of the officers, or Erik Rhodes.

Web Page:

-to make the web site page more "lively" and to add links
to other web sites. contact Patrick Cropper (croppepa) if
you have any ideas.

Social:

-to plan a holiday party

Just a few more announcements.....


ACHCA (American College of Health Care Administrators) has
a speaker on Nov.11 at 5:00 in Modular room 200 who will
be talking about Long Term Care. Anyone is welcome to come
to listen to the speaker and check out the new club.

I found a grey fleece after the meeting on Thurs. so please
call me (433-8963) if it is yours.

The next meeting will be Nov. 4 at 5:00 in Modular 123.
