MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!
    February 24th at 7 p.m. - ACHESA Initiation!
        We will be having a sit-down dinner at Mrs.
        Green's catered by JMU. I need to know NO
        LATER THAN MONDAY if you will be attending.
        If I do not hear from you by Monday at 12
        midnight I will assume you are not going.
        Please, please, please let me know RIGHT
        NOW if you will be attending (and also if
        you would be able to use a meal plan
        punch). *** We will be having an excellent
        speaker as well!***

The attendance points you will need for the semester will
be announced at the next meeting. Please keep in mind that
there will be more this semester as opposed to last because
we have an entire semester to work with. **Everyone who
attended the last meeting will receive 2 points (1 for
being there and 1 for participating in the ice breaker) so
all of you who missed it - get on the ball!!!

Please fill out an ACHESA evaluation (for last semester)
and return it to Dr. Thompson if you have not already done
so. If you don't have an evaluation you can ask Tamer
(moumentf@jmu.edu) for one. Please do this before the next
meeting.

Our next meeting will be announced at a later date, it is
presumably going to be at 5:30 on February 5th. Keep an
eye out for signs with the concrete date and time. If you
have class that does not get out until 5:45 please come
anyway, we'd rather have you arrive late than not at all.
And don't forget to let me know if you cannot attend!

Everyone has an opportunity to change (or stay) your
committee. ACHESA committees are:

Program curriculum: Advisory to HSA faculty on course
    procedures, methodologies, and related
    extra-curricular activities of the HSA Concentration
Continuing education: Plans for and conducts HSA related
    colloquiums, forums, and other HSA educational
    activities
Social activities: Plans for and conducts social,
    entertainment, and recreational activities for
    ACHESA
Marketing and PR: Plans for and conducts marketing and PR
    activities (ex. newspaper advertisements, radio
    public service announcements, flyers, association
    banner, etc.) of ACHESA
Fundraising: Plans for and conducts activities which raise
    $$$ for ACHESA in its efforts at completion of
    association objectives
Service: Plans and conducts activities for the altruistic
    benefit of the JMU community or the Rockingham
    County/Harrisonburg community
Web Site Management: Creates ACHESA's www homepage and
    maintains it with accurate information and links to
    areas of interest for ACHESA members and HSA
    students

Please e-mail me (along with you initiation RSVP) the name
of the committee you would like to work with. Remember you
may only sit on one committee.

ACHESA Attendance policy:
    For those of you who may have forgotten it and for
    all you new members here is the ACHESA attendance policy:

In accordance with the American College of Healthcare
Executives Student Association bylaws (article VIII), the
following are considered responsibilities of all members:
    1. attendance of (at least) one meeting per month;
    2. phone call or e-mail (to the secretary) 24 hours
    in advance of a meeting or activity required to
    permit an excused absence;
    3. participation in scheduled events and
    activities (mandatory or otherwise)

Failure to abide by these rules will suspend/terminate
membership by action of the Executive Committee.

Incentive points will be awarded for the following:

1 point     for attending scheduled meetings
2 points     for providing relevant information to
        ACHESA members (i.e. articles, journals,
        job opportunities, etc.)
        * short presentation or written summary
        required
4 points    for participation in scheduled events and
        activities
        * article relevant to HSA will be required
        if a mandatory event is unexcused

Points will be given randomly for extra input/ideas that
are in the best interest of ACHESA which; "promote
educational or ethical development in a manner that will
enhance the attainment of effective leadership in health
services administration" (ACHESA bylaws Article III,
section 1).

Formal recognition will be rewarded biannually to member(s)
with the most points.
