Purpose:

  • Support coordinated communication efforts to assist university community with project knowledge

Purpose:
  • Responsible for installation
  • Establish architecture - test and production (making recommendations to IT management)
  • Model for performance/load
  • Learn and support all aspects:
    • Database
    • Portal
    • Application Server
    • Apache
    • Ultra Search
    • Enterprise Integration Server
  • Review portal administration options and recommend appropriate roles for who does what across IT
  • Determine server administration models/maintenance approach
  • Responsible for modeling the day-to-day operations of the portal architecture
  • Recommend additional infrastructure

Purpose:
  • Evaluate what's required to modify/use EAI portlets
  • Determine requirements/skills for developing new portlets
  • Develop standards for development of portlet
  • Recommend documentation models
  • Establish test environment/move to production models
  • Recommend what tools will be distributed outside of IT Web group
  • Review portlets provided by EAI, make assessments in regard to these v JMU requirements and recommend as to viability for offerings
  • Investigate integration requirements based on delivered portlets and recommend models for additional integration.

Purpose:
  • Review Oracle Internet Directory
  • Compare functions to e-directory
  • Make recommendations on directory direction for portal/other models
  • Determine what/how functions support the portal - what's possible
  • Review PeopleSoft Campus Directory Interface – determine usability in context of portal
  • Review schema model requirements
  • Map initial schema requirements for existing roles (student, faculty, staff, etc.)
  • Recommend process for expanding schema over time
  • Recommend model for submitting changes to the schema
    • When does a field move from a system of record to the directory
  • Recommend models for refreshing directory data

Purpose:
  • Evaluate content management functionality.
  • Compare functionality to that of Web Manager and document the issues/approach to move current Web Manager content.
  • Determine approach to template creation.
  • Work with resources (Media Lab) to create templates for initial roll-out
  • Determine accessibility models needed to be included in CMS training/roll-out
  • Analyze and inventory existing content and new content needs
  • Work with constituents/pilot to assess training requirements (work in conjunction with end-user support workgroup.)
  • Recommend policy changes required to support implementation of templates/CMS
  • Evaluate state guidelines and JMU's compliance to them

Purpose:
  • Plan communication activities and models needed to keep campus in sync on the project and comfortable with the objectives.
  • Determine models for making project information available on the web.
  • Recommend models for support and training for CMS and portal
  • Document issues related to end-user acceptance and concerns for portal
  • Develop strategies for working with faculty on the portal/CMS
  • Serve as end-user advocate.
  • Develop/recommend strategies to ensure usability is considered.
