  1. What JMU departments are moving into the former hospital?

    The University Health Center, the Student Success Center, Human Resources and Procurement will be among the first JMU North Campus tenants.  Certainly, with more than 250,000 square feet to allocate, others will follow.  Studies are currently being conducted on the buildings to determine the best use for this space. This website will be updated as more information becomes available.
  2. How will local traffic be affected by JMU occupying the former RMH facility?

    The effects on local traffic should not be significant.  JMU is working with the City of Harrisonburg to minimize any disruption in the city’s traffic patterns.
  3. I am a JMU employee.  Does this change where I can park?

    Possibly. In July 2010, the university took possession of more than 700 additional parking spaces.  The new parking spaces were allocated among commuters, resident students and faculty and staff. 
  4. How will JMU ensure the new parking areas are secure?

    Approximately 20 blue-light emergency phones were installed on the Grace Street Parking Deck, Cantrell Avenue Parking Deck, and the R12 and N2 parking lots. The parking lots were also repainted for additional security.
  5. When is the move scheduled to be complete?

    The move will occur in phases, with JMU taking possession of all properties by December 31, 2011.  However, it will be some time before the entire space will be ready for university use.  There is a fair amount of planning and renovation yet to be done.  It is safe to assume that the new North Campus will not be fully operational for a number of years.
