JMU Students Perform at Programming Competition

Students Show High Performance in Programming Competition

On Saturday, March 19, several IT majors decided to stay indoors despite the nice weather to compete in the second annual HPTI Programming Competition. The competition was sponsored by High Performance Technologies, Inc. HPTI supporters included Louis Chabot, Jim Donnelly, and Ed Wehner. Faculty organization and support was provided by Mike Mitri, Carey Cole, and Glenn Smith.

Competitors attempted to solve eight challenging programming problems in a four hour time span. The programming problems were created by HPTI personnel and were geared toward testing skills students gain in their IT courses, especially the programming courses. The top three teams were awarded cash prizes, generously donated by HPTI.

The winning teams are:

1st place: Jonathan Albert and Greg Kruck
2nd place: Brett Berman and Jeff Hicks
3rd place: Steve Macchio and Travis Price
