Michael Critzer presents "Superheroes and America: With Great Story Comes Great Responsibility"

By Devin Boehmer

Madison Honors, the student organization of the JMU Honors Program, was pleased to debut their Mad Talks series on Monday, September 7th with WRTC Instructor Michael Critzer. A group of 45 students and faculty members gathered to hear Critzer present “Superheroes and America: With Great Story Comes Great Responsibility." He discussed the importance of superheroes in American society as mythological heroes. Critzer provided an insightful first Mad Talk to a room with standing-room only and elicited lively questions and discussion.

The Mad Talks series is designed by Madison Honors to emulate the popular Ted Talks, a series of unique presentations with topics ranging from lectures on the state of the economy to musical performances. They are intended to engage all students, not just those in the JMU Honors Program. The next Mad Talk is scheduled for Friday, September 3rd and will feature Dr. Jack Kaye, Associate Director for Research of the Earth Science Division of NASA.
