Math and Statistics Help

News

There is a new, free math/stat support service on campus specifically targeting students struggling with MATH 105 and 220. Both of these courses focus on language and communication...every problem is a word problem! MATH 105 is now a prerequisite for the IDLS sequence and MATH 220, so you want to excel, not just "get by".

Students that took advantage of this service last year showed huge increases in confidence and in grades.

This tutoring is intended to be different than that provided in the learning centers. The learning centers provide more "problem specific" support...if you know what problems are giving you difficulty or if you just want to clarify concepts from class each week or even if you want to do a quick exam review, they are a great resource. What this offers is ongoing support. Professor Hall strives to build relationships with the students where, through meeting regularly, they identify issues and then work to build confidence in problem solving skills and approaches while emphasizing the language/contextual connections that are so critical in courses like Statistics and Quantitative Reasoning.
