Red Flag Awareness Day

James Madison University Army ROTC Cadets wore red on Wednesday of this week in support of “Red Flag Awareness Day.”  This event is held annually by James Madison University in order to help raise awareness for dating violence and stalking.  Army ROTC Cadets were given the option to wear red on this day instead of their green Army Combat Uniforms to help increase the awareness of this serious and important issue on college campuses.

“Red Flag Awareness Day” encourages students on campus to let others know if they see warning signs (“red flags”) in their own or others relationships.  Third year Cadet Curtis Hart, representing the ROTC program, spoke to his platoon during military science lab; “It is important for us to be aware of dating violence because it continues to happen in the community as well as the US Army.  By raising awareness and increasing our knowledge we can help stop this problem and promote a tighter knit community.”
