Where is the University Health Center?
The
University Health Center helps JMU students with much more than just illness ...
but where is it? The UHC is located on the 4th and 5th floors of
Montpelier Hall.
Where's Montpelier Hall? Montpelier Hall is located at
235 Cantrell Ave. From the quad you follow Madison Drive from the sun dial to where Madison Drive turns into Mason Street. Continue on Mason to Cantrell Ave and turn right on Cantrell. (Fun fact: A bigger, better
Health Center is being built there on the corner of Cantrell and Mason as part of the new Student Success Center, and is scheduled to open after Spring Break). Montpelier Hall is on the right, just past the construction site.
From Taylor/Top Dog/Commons/D-Hall you follow the street uphill past the steam plant, turn right on Grace Street, and follow that between the Grace Street parking garage and the new Madison Gardens in front of the
Student Success Center being built. Continue along Grace Street towards the Cantrell Avenue parking garage, around the side of Montpelier Hall to the front door facing Cantrell Ave.
There's a bus stop right in front of the Health Center on Cantrell Ave (routes 1 and 4). The bus stop is just on the other side of the curb from a half dozen
parking spaces reserved for patients. (If you park in those spots, remember to have your license plate number with you when you check-in.)
There's more than 200 appointments available each day, walk-in hours (check the
website), and an acute (urgent) care clinic for stitches, sprains, minor fractures, and allergic reactions. There's also an
international travel clinic, allergy clinic,
women's health clinic, STD/STI testing and a lab, the LGBT & Ally Education Program and resource library, vaccines, five doctors, five nurse practitioners (including a gastroenterology NP), two physician assistants (including a dermatology PA), a
registered dietitian, professional health educators, and
substance abuse prevention specialists - just for JMU students.
Plus,
regular office visits are free, and
services that do cost a fee have favorable prices.
