Lauren Herberling Research Project at Local High School

Lauren Heberling is a part-time adjunct for the EFEX Department. Her journey with JMU started in 2003 when she was a freshman. She completed the 5-year M. Ed. program in 2008.

For the past 5 years she has taught in Augusta County Public Schools as a middle math co-teacher, high school high needs teacher, and currently an Algebra I & Math remediation teacher at Fort Defiance High School.

Since graduating in 2008, she continued to keep in touch with EFEX Faculty and even presented with Dr. Blatz at the National Council on Learning Disabilities conference in Texas in 2011.

Currently Lauren is facilitating a study at Fort Defiance High School along with JMU to help better prepare struggling students for Algebra I content. Lauren is thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to the university who has given her so much!

As a sidenote…..Lauren obviously loves what she does. She participated with others in helping a young man with cerebal palsy in a wheelchair cross the finishing line to raise money for Therapeutic Adventures.
