In February, 16 students from JMU’s Iota Kappa Chapter of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi attended the 2017 Northeastern LEAD Provincial Conference in Pittsburgh. LEAD (Leadership and Excellence Academies for Deltasigs) focuses on the educational development of all fraternity members, providing opportunities to build their personal, professional and leadership skills. Delta Sigma Pi was organized to promote the study of business in higher education, and the conference reaffirms and enriches that purpose.

During the conference, JMU’s Delta Sigma Pi brothers attended informative and entertaining education sessions, and also had numerous opportunities to network with their peers, with keynote speakers and with fraternity alumni. JMU student Kelsey Druggan, attended the regional and council meetings as a delegate, voting on legislation that will be sent to another Fraternity Conference, the Grand Chapter Congress, in August.

“Being a delegate of the Iota Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was an honor,” Druggan says. “I was extremely excited to be able to network with delegates from other universities, learn more about their chapters, and share ideas from our own.”

The students who attended the conference are grateful to JMU’s Student Government Association for funding this event.
