SUMMARY: Marketing professor Theresa Clarke received the 2017 Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).


Marketing professor Theresa Clarke received the 2017 Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). She is one of 12 professors from across the Commonwealth to receive the award, which recognizes excellence in teaching, research and public service. Another JMU professor, Caroline P. Lubert, professor of mathematics and statistics, also received the award. 

A pioneer in the development of university-level online marketing courses, Clarke has guided her students to top honors in the prestigious Google Online Marketing Challenge, including 2014 Global Co-Winner. Clarke, who has published articles in numerous academic journals, is co-editor of Advances in Electronic Marketing. She also serves as faculty adviser for the Madison American Advertising Federation and coaches students in the Marketing EDGE and DMAW/EF integrated marketing communications competitions. 

Clarke and the other honorees will receive their awards, which includes $5,000 underwritten by the Dominion Foundation, at a ceremony in Richmond next month. SCHEV, the Commonwealth’s coordinating agency for education, has administered the Outstanding Faculty Awards since 1986.
