College of Business Welcomes Alumnus Kevin R. Dunbar

Kevin DunbarThe College of Business is pleased to welcome Alumnus Kevin R. Dunbar as the inaugural speaker in the CoB C-Suite Speaker Series.  His presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m. in Showker G5. He will speak on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership” highlighting experiences from his career at Dunbar Armored. A reception will be held in the lobby of Showker Hall immediately after the presentation.

The JMU College of Business C-Suite Speaker Series brings corporate executives to campus each semester to share their experiences and wisdom with our students.

Dunbar is President and Chief Executive Officer of Dunbar Armored, Inc., America’s largest independent, family-owned, armored transport, cash management, cyber security and security products and services firm, Dunbar Armored employs more than 5,000 people who help to protect the lifeblood of commerce – America’s money supply.

Dunbar began his professional career in 1980 as an Account Executive with Federal Armored Express - now Dunbar Armored, which was founded by his father, James L. Dunbar, Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland in 1956.  During his 34-year career with the company, he has held a variety of managerial and executive positions within both the operating and sales divisions of the firm.  He entered into executive management in 1992 when he was appointed as Executive Vice President. 

In recognition of his diligent work, successful results and solid background in sales, operations and executive management, the Dunbar Board of Directors elected him Chief Operating Officer in October 1998 and President in 2001.  He was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2009.
