Inaugural 5K Scholarship Run Held


 

5K Scholarship Run ParticipantsThe first-ever 5K Scholarship Run was held on Saturday, Sept. 7, on the grounds of JMU. Organized by the Friends of Valley Charities and the College of Business, this inaugural event attracted 49 hardy runners/walkers.  The proceeds from this 5K will go toward a scholarship, to be given to a College of Business student who is affected by cancer, either directly or in the student’s immediate family. This scholarship will be awarded for the first time in May of 2014 for the 2014-2015 academic year.

The Friends of Valley Charities (FVC) is an all-volunteer organization whose sole purpose is to raise funds for local charities. FVC has been raising and donating funds to local charities for seven years and does so through an annual golf tournament, the 5K, and other activities.
