UNMAS Trains Army to Find Weapons Caches in the DRC

"In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, when armed groups surrender or retreat they often leave behind arms caches. Guns and munitions can be buried or hidden in camouflaged shelters. Finding these temporary arms depots is important for stability, the protection of civilians and to curb the proliferation of small arms, which can end up in local markets. Finding these weapons caches is not always obvious. The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), part of the UN peacekeeping operation in the country (MONUSCO), has designed a training course for just this purpose for the National Army of the Congo (FARDC)." --un.int
