In the heat of a medical emergency, nurses must dispense medicine carefully and exactly. It is a critical skill and a calculation that almost always involves math. As a nursing student working on his senior project, Ted Aronson (’15) conducted a literature review of current studies on different educational pedagogies and strategies for teaching medication mathematics to nursing students. His goal was to find the most effective strategy to fit different learning styles. Ted’s hope is that best practices instruction will help JMU’s nursing department use the newest and most effective teaching strategies and tools to help students learn.
