Alison Gates is primarily an artist whose studio practice incudes experiential archaeology, collaborative critique of medical/social gender construct, organizing feminist resistance incursions, and writing about contemporary textile exhibitions.
She has professional expertise in pulling strings, poking holes and beating stuff into a pulp as Chair of Art and Head of Textiles at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.
