The executive committee of National Public Radio (NPR)’s radio show With Good Reason will be reviewing story applications for broadcasting. Faculty interested in speaking about important projects can send Dr. David Jeffrey a brief description of their work by Wednesday, October 5.

JMU’s recent past With Good Reason features include: Dr. Jennifer Mease, assistant professor of communication studies, asking the question, “When it comes to racism or sexism, why aren’t good intentions enough?”; Dr. Evan Friss, assistant professor of history, presenting “Bicycle Fever at the Turn of the Century”; Dr. Chris Hughes, professor of physics and astronomy, discussing a JMU discovery in the way of attaching gold to plastic; Drs. Lindsey Harvell and Tatjana M. Hocke-Mirzashvili, assistant professors of communication studies, investigating the causes of a fear of flying and how to fix it;  and Dr. Erica Lewis, assistant professor of nursing, with Dr. Bill Hawk, professor of philosophy and chair of The Madison Collaborative: Ethical Reasoning in Action, giving strategies for deciding what to do when faced with ethical dilemmas.

As is evidenced by past programs and mentioned by Dr. Jerry Benson, "David Jeffrey has been very successful in having a number of our faculty nominees selected.  This is an excellent way to showcase our faculty, our university, and our commitment to scholarly engagement."
