Speaker to share experience at Italian meeting on food and environment
“Food and Environment Meet in Torino, Italy” will be the
subject of the next "Think Green, It's Friday" forum from noon to 1
p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 in Conference Room 4 of the Festival Conference and
Student Center.
Melissa Altman, grant writer for the JMU Office of
Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability, will discuss her experience at
Salone del Gusto International and Terra Madre, which took place from Oct. 25-29,
2012, in Torino, Italy.
Altman will also share her perspective on the relationship
between the food movement’s drive to improve the nutrition and taste of diets
and the environmental movement’s consideration of stewardship and
sustainability.
“Think Green: It’s Friday” forums are sponsored by JMU’s
Office of Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability. The series was started
to raise awareness in the JMU and Harrisonburg communities about ways to
conduct environmentally sustainable lives and how to better the community.
The event is free.
