TGIF forum to focus on RecycleMania competition

In preparation for the annual RecycleMania competition, the next “Think Green, It’s Friday” forum will be a RecycleMania workshop from noon-1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 in the Montpelier Room at E-hall.

The session will explain the RecycleMania competition and give tips to students, faculty and staff on how to responsibly dispose of food and recyclable material.

RecycleMania is a friendly competition among college and university reduction programs that begins Sunday, Feb. 3 and ends Friday, April 5. Over the eight-week period, participating colleges and universities from around the country report the amount of recycling and trash collected each week. The schools are ranked in various categories based on the amount recycled and also on the least amount of combined trash and recycling generated.

This will be JMU’s seventh year participating in RecycleMania.

The TGIF Series is sponsored by the Office of Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability and will feature a different topic one Friday of each month during the school year.
