NELSON INSTITUTE DIRECTOR CO-AUTHORS ARTICLE ON UN SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION 242
April 20, 2006
HARRISONBURG—Dr. J. Peter Pham, director of the Nelson Institute for International and Public Affairs at James Madison University, co-authored a commentary with Professor Michael I. Krauss of George Mason University School of Law on the meaning of United Nations Security Council Resolution 242.
The two professors argue that a correct interpretation of the document, adopted after the Arab-Israeli War of 1967, also known as the “Six Day War,” requires putting aside “juridical myth and wishful thinking” and returning to an “originalist” reading of the text for the meaning and intent of its authors.
The professors’ essay, entitled “This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land,” appears in today’s issue of TCS Daily.
