NELSON INSTITUTE DIRECTOR’S CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY ON EXPANDING CRISIS IN THE HORN OF AFRICA

HARRISONBURG—Dr. J. Peter Pham, director of the Nelson Institute for International and Public Affairs at James Madison University, testified yesterday at a joint oversight hearing on “Somalia: Expanding Crisis in the Horn of Africa” held by the United States House of Representatives Committee on International Relations’ Subcommittees on Africa, Global Human Rights, and International Operations and International Terrorism and Nonproliferation.
Also testifying at the hearing were Dr. Jendayi E. Frazer, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and John Prendergast, co-director of the Africa Program at the International Crisis Group, as well as Dr. Saad Noor, representative of the Republic of Somaliland in the United States, and Ted Dagne, a researcher with the Congressional Research Service.
