Tryout Requirements:

The minimum required skills to be a member of the Dukettes Dance Team include the following:

• sharp pom motions with proper placement
• triple pirouette
• fuete turns
• switch leap
• side leap
• high toe touch


In addition to the above requirements, potential Dukettes must be able to adapt to various styles of dance including pom, jazz and funk/hip hop.
 
Tryouts will be held over two days this year.  Dancers will be taught three different routines:  a jazz, a hip hop, and a pom routine.  These routines will be taught on Saturday April 26, 2008.  If you plan on auditioning to be a full time member of the team, you are required to attend BOTH days.  Registration will begin on Saturday April 26, 2008 at 8:30 am.  You will pay a $45 registration fee, cash only.  We will begin teaching the first routine at 9 am.  There will be a lunch break at an appropriate time on Saturday. 
 
Official judging of dancers and hopefuls will take place on Sunday April 27, 2008 at 9 am.  We will have all participants sign in at 8:30 am.  You will be responsible for warming yourself up.  We will do a short review of each routine and begin with first cuts at approximately 9:30 am.  We will also have a lunch break on this day, at an appropriate stopping point.  There will be approximately two cuts this day. 
 
Dancers are judged on their execution of the routine, including performance and energy, as well as the technical skills listed above.

Please be advised that on both days we are scheduled from 8:30 am to approximately 5 pm.  Depending on attendance, there could be a chance we will run over time. Please be aware of this and make proper arrangements in case this does happen. Please make proper travel arrangements in advance.
