Welcome to the official site of the JMU Dukettes! The Dukettes perform during every home football halftime show with Virginia’s finest, the Marching Royal Dukes. The Dukettes also dance during basketball season and compete nationally at National Dance Alliance’s (NDA) College National Championship. The regular season for a Dukette runs from May to early March.


CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DUKETTES FOR RANKING TOP TEN IN THE NATION FOR BOTH JAZZ AND HIP HOP IN 2007 AND ALSO RECEIVING A PARTIALLY PAID BID TO NATIONALS IN DAYTONA FLORIDA IN APRIL 2008!


The Dukettes had a wonderful experience this past summer at NDA’s summer dance camp held in Myrtle Beach.  They achieved all Superior rankings for their participation in classes and routines and the NDA Collegiate Home Routine competition.  The Dukettes also were awarded the coveted spirit stick for their professional and classy attitudes while representing JMU.  GREAT JOB LADIES!!

DUKETTE DANCE CLINIC

DUKETTE TRYOUTS
This year’s tryouts will be held on April 26, 2008 and April 27, 2008 at Godwin Hall Gyms.  All incoming First Years and prospective First Years (those who are not sure they are accepted yet) are welcome! Any high school sophomores or juniors who would like to get a handle on what to expect at a college dance team audition or see what Dukettes are all about are also welcome!  Those who are interested in becoming a full time member of the dance team need to attend both days.  Saturday will be a learning day to learn and review choreography, work on tricks and technique, and also ask any questions you have regarding the commitment required to be on the team.  Official judging will take place on Sunday and new team members announced at the end of the day.  There will be a short lunch break where you may feel free to leave campus to eat or stay on campus and eat at one of JMU’s restaurants.  There will also be a few small breaks during the day so please pack your water/drinks and some healthy snacks if needed.
