BRIAN COCKBURN, Associate Professor | Head of the Music Library

B.M. from Texas A&M, Commerce, M.M. and M.L.S. from University of Arizona, Tucson. He has conducted choirs in Texas, New York, Arizona and Virginia. His compositions have been performed throughout the U.S. and in Europe. As a tenor and countertenor, he has sung professionally with Arizona Opera, O.P.E.R.A., Young Audiences Programs, and concerts around the U.S. His directorial debut was with Arizona Opera as assistant stage director. His most recent activity in that area was with the Shenandoah Bach Festival directing and conducting The Village Singer by Stephen Paulus. He resides in Harrisonburg with his family.

KAREN SNIVELY, Music Librarian

Karen received a Bachelor’s of Music degree from JMU with an emphasis in bassoon performance. She continues to perform as well as teach private lessons. Karen has been with the music library since 1998.

LYNNE MOIR, Music Library Assistant

In 1998 Lynne graduated from James Madison University summa cum laude with a Bachelorís Degree in English. While working on her degree, Lynne studied classical guitar with Keith Stevens. In May of 2010 Lynne graduated again from JMU with a M.A. degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. Lynne joined the music library staff in September, 2001.
