STEEL BAND

Membership open to the entire university community by permission of the instructor. The steel band plays music of all eras, styles and genres, in its practical exploration of improvisation, arranging and composition.

TROMBONE CHOIR

Membership by permission of director. This group consists of tenor and bass trombones and performs various concerts throughout the year. The trombone choir has performed at the International Trombone Festival, Eastern Trombone Workshop and JMU Brass Bash.

TRUMPET ENSEMBLE

Membership by permission of conductor. This ensemble is made up of various trumpets, cornets, and fluegelhorns.  The ensemble won the 2009 ensemble division of the North American Brass Band Association Ensemble Competition and has performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, the National Trumpet Competition, the Charleston Festival of Trumpet and the JMU Brass Bash.
