This is a tremendous opportunity for JMU students to perform in a public recital, with the chance to rehearse and perform with full orchestra.
Finals will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010, at 7:00 pm in Wilson Hall Auditorium and will be free and open to the public. This year up to two (2) winners may be selected to perform with the JMU Symphony Orchestra on the Honors Concert, to be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 3:00 pm in Wilson Hall. Preliminary area competitions (Brass/Percussion, Piano, Strings, Voice, and Woodwinds) will be arranged by area coordinators and will need to be completed by Monday, January 25, 2010. Details regarding these preliminary competitions will be forthcoming from area coordinators.
The maximum length of a work is limited to 20 minutes, with a minimum performance time of 6 minutes, and may include a movement (or multiple movements) or a complete work.
Applicants are responsible for completing the application, including complete publisher information. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions of your teacher or any member of the Concerto/Aria Committee, listed below.
Applications are due in Room 123, NO LATER THAN 5:00 pm on
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2009.
This is a firm deadline, and no exceptions will be made.
