This is a tremendous opportunity for JMU students to perform in a public recital in our wonderful Forbes Center Concert Hall, with the chance to rehearse and perform with full orchestra. Finals will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2021, at 7:00 pm in the Forbes Center Concert Hall and will be open to the public. This year up to two (2) winners may be selected to perform with the JMU Symphony Orchestra on the Honors Concert, to be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Forbes Center Concert Hall. Preliminary area competitions (Brass/Percussion, Piano, Strings, Voice, and Woodwinds) will be arranged by area coordinators and will need to be completed by Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Details regarding these preliminary competitions will be forthcoming from area coordinators.

The maximum length of a work is again limited to 20 minutes, with a minimum performance time of 6 minutes, and may include a movement (or multiple movements) or a complete work. Applicants are responsible for completing the application, including complete publisher information.

Applications are due to Donna Wampler NO LATER THAN 1:00 pm on
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2011. This is a firm deadline, and no exceptions will be made.
