The Undergraduate Diagnostic Exam is administered to any student enrolled in MUS 141 in class during the first class meeting. Students who do not demonstrate a minimum level of musical literacy on the exam may be asked to enroll in MUS 131 either simultaneously or before enrolling in 141.

  • Scales
  • Key signatures
  • Note and rest durations
  • Time signatures
  • Intervals
  • Triads
  • Seventh chords
