Missionstatement: We are a
fraternal service organization aimed at bringing men together in
Brotherhood and uniting to serve the Latino community.
1) Men of
Character: Weekly mentoring program for Latino Male Youths (every Tues,
including winter and summer breaks). Meetings consist of group
discussions concerning issues relative to the mental, social,
spiritual, and educational growth and development of Latinos and
Latin society. Emphasis is on understanding the roots of the Latino
culture through stories of other Latinos; famous, infamous, local
and historical. The other portion of meetings is reserved for male
bonding through sports, games, movies, and other social
activities.
2) Golden Vision: 2
weeks of programs celebrating and honoring Hispanic Heritage Month
(Oct. 3 - 14th, 2005). Past events have included
lectures, movie viewings, and seminars on topics such as "The
Evolution of Race and Culture", "Columbus; the Untold Story",
"English Only; One Act Play", "Women's Roles in Latin America", and
"True Americans; the Story of the Indigenous Warrior".
3) International Festival: Participation in the yearly International Festival of
Harrisonburg. We have
and will continue to prepare and sale various Latin Cuisines
at Harrisonburg's annual International Festival. Additionally we man one of
the booths in activities section helping visitors with arts crafts
such as making Mexican Paper Flowers. We also proudly have a Hermano on the planning committee for the
Festival who is a co-chair of the activities planning
committee.
Elections
are held on: April 26th every
year
