Valarie joined the CMSS staff in June 2006 as Associate Director for the Center and was appointed to the role of Interim Director in July 2007. Her primary duties as interim director include coordinating CMSS programming, supervision and management of daily operation of the Center, departmental collaboration, and community outreach in Harrisonburg and the surrounding areas. She has a passion for people and is committed to encouraging students to reach their fullest potential.
In her free time she enjoys reading, shopping, beading, traveling and spending time with family.

Ms. Turner, a double Duke, joined the CMSS staff in May 2005. She earned her B.S. degree in Psychology and M. Ed. in College Student Personnel Administration from James Madison in 2000 & 2004, respectively. Her focus is building the Greek Life community under CMSS. Her responsibilities include advising the Black/Latino Greek Caucus and coordinating the Homecoming Step Show along with other duties and responsibilities.
In the summer, Ms. Turner also serves as the Director for the Female Institute, a developmental program for high school females. She enjoys this role as she is able to express her passion for working with young women.
When she is not at the office, she enjoys reading, shopping and spending time with her nieces.

Dusty joined the CMSS staff in August 2005 as a graduate assistant. She
earned her B.S. degree in Public Communication from the University of
Wisconsin - Eau Claire and is currently finishing her master's degree in the
College of Student Personnel Administration here at JMU. Now an Assistant
Director, Dusty coordinates the Experiential Learning Series and the CMSS
Alternative Break program, as well as manages the Multicultural Attaché
program, along with other responsibilities.
In her free time, she enjoys home improvement projects, playing with her
dogs, and sitting on the front porch with her husband, Paul, and son, Miles.

Sharon joined the CMSS staff on September 22, 2003. She monitors the budgets and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the center. She serves as administrative assistant to the director.

Lillian joined the CMSS staff on January 10, 2005. She is responsible for greeting visitors, aiding CMSS student groups, maintaining the website, various accounting functions,as well as handling other general office operations. She also serves as supervisor to the student assistants and Centennial Scholar student volunteers.
When she's not in the office, she is busy completing her degree in Public Health, to graduate in May 2008. She also enjoys singing, reading and playing the drums.

Martin graduated from JMU May 2007 with a degree in Sociology. He is a vital part of the CMSS staff serving as the programming assistant to our student organizations in the areas of leadership, program planning, mentorship, and organizational skills.

Maurice joined the CMSS Staff in Aug 2007 as the new Graduate Assistant for Greek Life coming from Loyola University New Orleans where he received in B.A. in Graphic Design and the University of Alabama at Birmingham were he received his B.A. in Mass Communication (TV/Radio). He is currently pursuing his Masters in College Student Personnel Administration here at JMU and will graduate in May 2009. His focus in CMSS is to bring a greater awareness to Black Greek Letter Organizations on the campus of JMU, establish leadership opportunities, facilitate forums on diversity and work place ethics, help to coordinate the annual Homecoming step show and many other duties.
When not in the office he likes watch cartoons, travel, and work on building his photography portfolio.

Kirsten joined the CMSS staff in August 2007. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2005 and is currently pursuing her Master's and Educational Specialist degrees in the School Psychology program here at JMU.
In her spare time, Kirsten enjoys shopping, traveling, spending time with her friends, watching movies, and listening to music!
