Position Description
Job Description
Steering Committee members
are responsible for planning all aspects of the Madison Student
Giving Campaign. This includes, but is not limited
to:
· Recruiting and
training Volunteers
· Design and implement
Madison Student Giving Campaign
publicity
· Organizing
fundraising activities and
events
· Communication with
fellow students, faculty members and university
administration
· Serve as a
liaison between the Development Office
and your Class
· Secure and distribute
volunteer incentives
· Attend weekly Steering
Committee Meetings and 1:1 meetings with
Student Director
· Participate in the
post-evaluation of the Madison Student
Giving Campaign
· Attend Steering
Committee Retreat & Training (Spring
Training scheduled for Sunday, April 13 from 4:00 to 7:00
p.m.)
Qualified applicants should meet the following
criteria:
1.
JMU full-time student in good academic
standing
2.
Team player
3.
Motivated, self-starter, highly
organized
4.
Demonstrated leadership skills
5.
Be reliable and timely
6.
Be flexible
7.
Awareness of your own strengths and weaknesses and
willingness to enhance and improve as necessary
8.
Computer skills preferred
9.
Good sense of humor!
Time
Requirements
Fall 2008 and
Spring 2009
· Attend three-hour
Training Meeting (April 13, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.)
· Attend three-hour Fall
Retreat (September 7, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.)
· Attend two-hour Steering
Committee meeting per week (Tuesday's from 6:30 to 8:30)
· Meet weekly with Student
Director (one hour)
· Complete approx. 3 to 5
hours per week preparation/communication (completed on your own
time with support from the Student Director and Madison Fund
Assistant Director)
