The James Madison University Graduate School provides two annual awards to individuals who have made a positive impact on the graduate students and/or the local community. One graduate faculty member and one graduate student receive this award for their efforts in dedication, compassion, selfless efforts, and civic mindedness.
In April of 2013 at the End of Year Graduate Student Picnic, these awards were presented to graduate faculty member Dr. Nicholas Swartz and graduate student Dane Sosniecki, both members of the Public Administration program. Dr. Nicholas Swartz, pictured right, is also the Director of the MPA program and performs extensive community outreach and engagement. Dane, also pictured right, was selected from a pool of over 1,800 total JMU graduate students. These individuals were selected from nearly 60 graduate programs, 11 of which are nationally ranked.
