CORA, A CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NEW YORK CITY DANCE COMPANY CREATED BY DANCE PROGRAM ALUMNA SHANNON HUMMEL ('96), visited campus last fall to perform new works and talk with JMU students and dance faculty members. Hummel's company includes alumnae: Jennifer Tweel Kelly ('96) [pictured above], Donna Costello ('96) and Anna Smith ('00). Beth Bradford ('02), a graphic designer for TENDU dance magazine, performs technical duties for the company. CORA members often return to JMU to mentor dance students and collaborate with faculty members, and the company served a campus residency with the Virginia Repertory Dance Company in 2002.
