Christy Morgan 1994
Christy Morgan was inducted into the JMU
Sports Hall of Fame in April. Morgan led the JMU field hockey team
to the 1994 NCAA national championship and to five NCAA tournament
appearances during her nine seasons as coach (1991-99). Her teams
reached back-to-back Final Fours (1994-95) and won the 1995 CAA
title. Morgan's teams were unbeaten in CAA regular-season play in
1994 and 1995 and had a 20-game regular-season winning streak
against CAA teams from 1994 to 1996. Morgan was named the NCAA
South Region Coach of the Year and CAA Coach of the Year in 1993.
Her players won All-America honors 14 times and National Academic
Squad accolades 25 times.
