"To be able to assist a person with his or her development is such a privilege because it is work with intrinsic value. I'm so lucky because I can see the intrinsic value of being a teacher. In our discipline, we talk about information as a product, as a commodity. Our students go out there and deal with information the way somebody in the financial world deals with dollars, futures, Euros. Technical communication is such a future-oriented occupation. We don't know where it's heading, which is very exciting because I like change. It's great to help students get ready for careers of constant change."
