In 2006 Center for Faculty Innovation held the first May Symposium in an effort to support the ongoing development of JMU faculty as teachers and as scholars.  May Symposium has grown to a full week of programming during the week after May Commencement offering.  In 2014, the Center for Faculty Innovation introduced a new component to May Symposium - CFI Conference Days. CFI Conference Days reflects feedback asking for more offerings as well as more flexibility and options in selecting sessions. Most of the CFI Conference Days sessions came from members of the JMU community through an open call for proposals. Proposals were selected based on the alignment of outcomes with the mission of the CFI to enhance academic culture through professional development experiences designed to encourage excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership for JMU faculty.
