Dr. Sweta Chaturvedi Thota
Sweta C. Thota (Ph.D., Louisiana
State University) has been an Assistant Professor of Marketing in
the College of Business at James Madison University since
2004. She teaches Buyer Behavior and Database Marketing.
Prior to her Ph.D. program, Dr. Thota has had industry experience
in the banking, newspaper and consumer durables industries in
India. 
Dr. Thota's dissertation
is on consumer irritation. Her research interests lie in the
areas of consumer irritation, skepticism, resistance to persuasion,
and demand side determinants of line extensions. She has
published in the Journal of Advertising and Journal of
Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction and Complaining
Behavior. Dr. Thota's article titled
"Resistance to Persuasion: Modeling the Impact of
Counterattitudinal Information on the Current and the Subsequent
Attitudes of Individuals" won the Best Student Paper Award at the
Society for Marketing Advances in 2002. She has served as a
reviewer for Academy of Marketing Science Annual Conference and
Society for Marketing Advances. In addition, she has
published several articles in AMA Proceedings.
