Get to know your child's school

School is an important part of your child's life. You can help your children by learning about their school and what is expected of them.

Virginia makes it easy for you. Most school districts have their own websites on the Internet. By visiting these sites you can:

  • Get the school year calendar. The calendar lists holidays, vacation days, and other important dates.

  • Find links to each school in the district. You can learn about the teachers, activities and learning goals at your child's school.

  • Learn how you can get involved in your child's education.

  • Learn what you need to do to enroll your child in school.

  • Learn contact teachers, principals, or School Board members when you have a concern.

  • Access other educational websites on the Internet.

To find your school district's web site, go to http://vipnet.org/ then:

Click on "Find My Community" in the top left corner.

  • To get information about your school district, type in your zip code in the box and click "Go."

Or,

  • Find your town on the list.

  • Click on the arrow to display a list of cities and town in Virginia.

  • Click on your town's name then click go.

  • Scroll down to the section on "Education," and click on link to the school's website. For example, if you live in Big Stone Gap, you would click on "Wise County Schools."
