Transfer Summer
Springboard 2009
June 1, 2, 4, and 5
If you've been to one college orientation you've
been to them all, right? WRONG! All orientation programs are not
created equal. JMU's transfer
orientation program is specifically tailored to addressing the
issues and concerns of incoming transfer students. We hired
students that have transferred into JMU to work with you and assist
you in your transition because we know that they can relate to your
experience.
Our program is focused on helping you understand
JMU's policies, procedures and culture,
which may differ from your current/previous institution. In
addition to learning some valuable information, you will also
register for your first semester of classes during transfer
orientation. If you need extra incentive to attend, consider the
following:
- JMU cannot guarantee the same
level of course availability in your intended major as we are able
to offer during Transfer Orientation.
- You will be responsible for
contacting the academic department in which you intend to major to
make an appointment with your academic adviser. Due to JMU's academic schedule, academic advisers and
departmental faculty may not be available to meet with you until
the week(s) immediately preceding your first semester at which time
course availability is extremely limited
- All incoming student accounts
are automatically billed the standard orientation fee. This
non-refundable fee is charged to every student, whether or not they
choose to attend orientation.
- Unfortunately, there is no make
up orientation session.
Be open to the JMU learning experience and we
promise that you will feel more like a member of the JMU community
once you complete orientation. Click here to begin your
transition to JMU.
