Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg was designed by Staunton architect T. J. Collins in 1907. Unlike his St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, this conforms to another type, the English Parish church. The exterior combines brick and stone outlining decorative elements of the single tower façade. Collins’ original drawings show a tall spire, which was never executed.

The single nave, with its elaborate hammer beam roof, painted by local craftsmen, focuses attention on the vaulting leading down to the polygonal apse and main altar.  Lancet windows along the side walls and the western rose window illuminate the interior. The diversity of Collins’ buildings suggests the varied taste of local patrons.
