The 1787 Society is sponsored by the James Madison Center and is designed to provide numerous educational opportunities for students who wish to explore the life, ideals, and philosophy of our fourth president, James Madison. Members serve as an advisory panel for the Center and work on a variety of special events including Constitution Day, Madison Week, the Centennial celebrations, and the Jamestown 2007 commemorations. The society will also act as a liaison between the James Madison Center and the JMU student body. The organization is open to all students regardless of major.

e, the members of the 1787 Society, are committed to preserving and promoting the life and legacy of James Madison and the ideals of the the Early American Republic.

  1. January 30: Trip to Washington, D.C.to see the play “The Rivalry” at Ford’s Theatre.
