We,
the members of the 1787 Society,
are
committed to preserving and
promoting the
life and legacy of James Madison
and the
ideals of the Early American
Republic.
The
1787 Society
is sponsored by the James
Madison Center and is designed
to provide numerous educational
opportunities for students who
wish to explore the life, ideals,
and philosophy of our fourth
president, James Madison. Members
serve as an advisory panel for
the Center and work on a variety
of special events including
Constitution Day, Madison Week,
the Centennial celebrations,
and the Jamestown 2007 commemorations.
The society will also act as
a liaison between the James
Madison Center and the JMU student
body. The
organization is open to all
students regardless of major.
