Individualized Academic Coaching is a free service intended to help JMU students improve their academic skills such as:

  • Time management
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Note taking
  • Memorization
  • Test taking
  • Critical thinking
  • And more...

Because each student is unique, an LSI staff member will work directly with him or her to develop a customized coaching experience to meet their specific needs.  Students will be given effective strategies that are relevant to their unique challenges and academic coursework.

The ultimate goal of Individualized Academic Coaching is to help students become self-regulated learners who accept responsibility for their learning, and who will continually assess their ability to implement and try different strategies to improve their academic career at JMU and beyond.

LSI services are:

  • Prescriptive- they provide students with specific instructions for achieving a goal.
  • Specific- they are designed to address each individual student's academic challenge areas.
  • Iterative- they involve ongoing steps of planning, executing, reporting, modifying.

Iterative Learning Process: Plan, Execute, Report, Modify

Learning is a lifelong process!
