JMU Employee Resources
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - All health plans offer up to four sessions at no charge to the individuals. Included are such services as mental health, alcohol or drug abuse assessment, child or elder care, grief counseling and legal or financial services.
Faculty Resources for Diversity
Madison Caucus for Gender Equality - reaches out to and welcomes all JMU employees, understanding that gender-based workplace bias affects not only employees but also their families. Please consider joining the Madison Caucus for Gender Equality; there is plenty of work and good community to be shared.
MiResource Mental Health Local Clinician Searchable Database - Employees may search for clinicians that identify as “LGBTQ friendly.” Users of the site can, also, set search parameters on the Provider Gender, and Therapeutic Areas.

The JMU Counseling Center - LGBTQIQA students may experience difficulties during their academic careers such as managing stress, anxiety, academic demands, periods of sadness, substance abuse, relationship problems, social problems, coping with harassment or discrimination, and identity development (including sexual identity). The Counseling Center offers free, confidential counseling to any student who is interested in receiving additional support.

Asexual Visibility and Education Network - The world's largest online asexual community and a large archive of resources on asexuality.
Bisexual.org - A voice to the bisexual community, this site aims to share accurate information, answer questions, and provide resources for further learning.
The Center for Black Equity - offers programming geared toward LGBT people of color and their allies.They focus on equity in three areas: economic equity, social equity, and health equity.
Everyday Feminism - a repository of articles about class, gender, LGBTQIA issues, race, and other topics.
Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLADD) - "GLAAD tackles tough issues to shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. GLAAD protects all that has been accomplished and creates a world where everyone can live the life they love.
Human Rights Campaign (HRC) - advocates on behalf of LGBT Americans, mobilizes grassroots actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuats to office, and educates the public about LGBT issues.
It Gets Better Project - to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them.
It's Pronounced Metrosexual - free online resource for learning & teaching about gender, identity, privilege, sexuality, oppression, & social justice in a fun, approachable way.
The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) - a non-profit social justice organization dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration, and empowerment.
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force - "to build the power of the LGBT community from the ground up." They also run Creating Change, the "largest annual gathering of LGBTQ activists, organizers, and leaders within the LGBT movement" in the US.
The Religious institute - a multifaith organization dedicated to advocating for sexual health, education, and justice in faith communities and society.
Transgender Law Center - "works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression."
Transgender Victims of Sexual Assault - allows practitioners to pick and choose the information that is most useful to them, from basic information about the transgender experience to specific guidance for sexual assault service providers and advocates, law enforcement officers, medical and mental health care providers, and support group facilitators. The guide's core resource, "Transgender 101," helps to provide a basic understanding of this population.
