Jared Featherstone, M.F.A. - University Writing Center Coordinator - feathejj@jmu.edu
Jared Featherstone advises students and faculty about writing, and teaches courses in the School of Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in Journalism from the University of Maryland. In addition to developing his own creative work, his interests include online learning, Writing Across the Curriculum, service learning, and the relationship between teaching and tutoring.
Kristen Shrewsbury, M.A. - English Language Learner Services Coordinator - shrewskm@jmu.edu
Kristen is a JMU alumna and has returned to the Shenandoah Valley after receiving a MA in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Delaware. She is currently working on her doctorate at the California Institute of Integral Studies focusing on transformative learning upon reentry from study abroad. At ELLS, her goal is to provide access for every student to robust educational and personal experiences.

Paige Normand, M.A. - Interim Communication Center Coordinator - normanap@jmu.edu
Paige received her MA in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin where she was the Outreach Coordinator for the Undergraduate Writing Center and taught for the Division of Rhetoric & Writing. In addition to overseeing the Communication Center, Paige teaches for the School of Media Arts and Design and runs the Presentation Series for the Communication Center and Writing Center. Her research interests include multimedia pedagogy and digital literacy.
Alicia James, Ph.D. - Associate Director - jamesam@jmu.edu
As the Associate Director, Alicia oversees the day to day operations of the Science and Math Learning Center and P.A.S.S. (Peer Assisted Study Sessions), a Supplemental Instruction program. She also tutors in the Science and Math Learning Center and teaches in the Department of Chemistry. She loves helping students reach their potential as they matriculate through JMU. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading and spending time with her family in Louisiana.
Charles "Chuck" Cunningham, M.A. - Math Coordinator - cunnincx@jmu.edu
Charles Cunningham is the mathematics and statistics coordinator at the SMLC. He received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and his Masters at the University of Virginia. He has been involved with tutoring at JMU for sixteen years. His other loves include golf, hiking, and his beagle Marcella.

As the Science Coordinator, Mary splits her time between tutoring in the Science and Math Learning Center and teaching in the Department of Chemistry. She is passionate about helping students develop an appreciation for chemistry and succeed throughout their educational journey at JMU. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys.
