History
The foundation for the Center was laid over fifty years ago when Dr.’s Lee Morrison and Patricia Bruce decided to accept faculty positions at then, Madison College. Drs. Morrison and Bruce dedicated their professional careers to enhancing the lives of women by expanding and enriching the physical activity opportunities for women.
Both women have been actively involved in developing a center designed to promote physical activity for girls and women. Dr.’s Morrison and Bruce have continued to make noteworthy contributions to the University in their retirement by helping shape the Center's mission and goals.
The Center has been created to develop and provide activities that are specifically designed to promote physical activity for women and girls and enhance their knowledge of health issues specifically related to women. Dr.’s Morrison and Bruce hope that the Center will improve the lives of girls and women not only in the community, but also in the world in which we live.
The inaugural event, held in October, was a great success! A second Alunmae Health and Fitness Weekend was held in April.
