Description of Assessment tool:

The EVI assessment instrument is a 48-question instrument designed to assess the outcomes of the Values Clarification workshop. The students are given the instrument before the workshop and then immediately following the workshop. The same instrument is used for both pre and post assessments. Eighty students completed both the pre and posttest in 2001/2002.

Assessment results:
Report from CARS.

Action to be taken based on results:

  1. Ensure that all students take pre-test prior to the session and post-test after the session through communication with facilitators, program assistants, and hearing officers.
  2. Rewrite or eliminate questions 14, 21, 24, 38, 41, 43, 45, and 48 to more accurately reflect program outcomes and eliminate confusion between choices that are similar.
  3. Facilitators will discuss how the Ethics Checklist question, "Is it legal?" pertains to JMU policies and community standards as well as local, state, or federal laws.
  4. Give more examples of Kitchener's ethical principles so that students can better apply those principles to realistic situations.
