Madison Mediation
What is the Mediation Process?
Mediation is a separate process from the restorative justice process. Mediation includes the following steps:
- Participants state their goals, give some background about the situation and agree to listen to the other parties involved.
- The mediator(s) help clarify information and help identify issues to be resolved.
- Participants may be asked to meet with the mediator(s) separately. All information given in these meetings will not be shared unless the participants grant permission.
- Participants will work together to draft a written agreement to be reviewed signed as a commitment to the resolution of the conflict.
