Byrd Symposium: Focus on Africa, Mar 23 & 24

On Monday, March 23 at 7PM, Dr. Margaret Lee, Associate Professor, Department of African and Afro-American Studies at the University of North Carolina will be speaking on “Re-enter the Dragon: China-Africa Relations and the 21st Century Scramble for Africa.” The event will be held in Miller 1101. It is a Wellness Passport event.

On Tuesday, March 24, there will be two panel discussions. From 9:30-11:15, there will be a panel discussion on International Trade, Business, and Microcredit. From 2:30-4PM, there will be a panel discussion on China in Africa. A mix of academics and practitioners (Margaret Lee, Anita Spring, Trushna Patel, and Irene Safi) will talk about the current business environment in Africa. Both events will be help in Taylor 302. There will be a continental breakfast at 9AM immediately before the first panel presentation.
