Dr. Herb Amato

The General Education Program is pleased to announce that Dr. Herb Amato, Cluster Five Coordinator and Professor of Health Sciences, will become Associate Dean of the General Education Program as of July 1, 2006. He will be replacing Dr. Violet Allain, who has announced her retirement.

Dr. Amato has been at JMU since 1988, and joined General Education as the Cluster Five Coordinator in 1996.

He is a widely respected consultant and speaker in the field of Athletic Training and won 2003 NATA Sayers "Bud" Miller Distinguished Educator Award. This award, presented by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Education Council, is the highest national award for an Athletic Training educator.
